Ebonyi, Chinese firm sign MOU on solar power factory



Ebonyi State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Fonshan Sunchees Technology Company Limited of China to establish 4 million dollars solar power factory in the state.
Governor Umahi, represented by the Deputy Governor, Kelechi Igwe, during the event at the Executive Chamber, Government House, Abakalik, stated that the agreement was to enable the Chinese company establish a factory to manufacture solar panels energy towards industrialising the state.
“There cannot be any meaningful industrial development of any state where there is no power and energy, because the vision of the Governor is to make Ebonyi State become a leading state in Nigeria in terms of industrialization.
Umahi assured the Chinese company of the state government’s readiness and preparedness to abide with the terms of the agreement based on the project and also assured the company that the government would monitor the execution of the work until the project executed in Ebonyi state.
In his Remarks, the leader of the Chinese firm, Mr. Jack Chen, pledged readiness of the company to supply 4million dollars solar power to the state and Nigeria, he further assured to make Ebonyi State the power of the nation.
Those that signed the agreement on behalf the state government includes; the Attorney General, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, as well as the Secretary to State Government, Hyginus Nwokwu, while the 13 local government chairmen also participated in signing the project agreement.
