Age grade marks 25th anniversary in Nnobi



IFEADIGO Afe Grade, Nnobi, in Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State, has marked the celebration of their Silver Jubilee by launching of a multimillion naira ultra modern recreation center.
The 25th anniversary celebration cum launching of sports center, which took place recently at Umegbu village Hall, Ngo, Nnobi, hosted the high and mighty of Nnobi people and non indigens.
Speaking during the occasion, the President General, Ifeadigo Afe Grade, Nnobi, Chief Justin Pat Okonkwo, appreciated God for sustaining the age grade over the years and helping them carry out developmental projects in Nnobi.
The developmental projects in Nnobi include : construction of Nnobi Boys Secondary School Gate, contributing to the building of the General Hospital, Nnobi, molding of blocks for proposed Nnobi High Court, assisting widows and orphans, among others.
Others include always engaging yearly in domestic works during celebrations like: Ikpo ji Isiana and Ofala Igwe &New yam Festivals, Nnobi women summit, etc.
Moreover, Chief Okonkwo said that the age grade resolved to build an ultra modern sports center which would house lawn tennis and table tennis courts, car park, gym, restaurant and bar center, dressing/ changing room, occasion and conference hall, etc.
He said that it would create an atmosphere for people to come and unwind after undergoing stress from their various fields of endeavors, saying it would serve as a place to meet for further business opportunities.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Secretary General, Ezisi Ezeugoabata Michael, revealed that the Ifeadigo Age Grade Nnobi, which comprised of age mates born from 1960 to 1965, started officially in 1990.
The chairman, planning committee and vice president, Mazi Barnabas Umeji, said that they needed to present honorary cum meritorious awards and post humus awards in recognition of the achievements of the awardees in developing Nnobi town and its people.
