2019: Politicians will need voters not thugs – Ikoiwak

IT has been ascertained that politicians will need voters with permanent voter cards (PVC) to win election in 2019 and not ballot box-snatching thugs.
The chairman of Akwa Ibom Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC), Mr. Aniedi Ikoiwak, made the assertion recently at the stakeholder’s sensitization forum held at Uyo.
In his words, “In 2019, there will be no need for thugs to shoot guns and scare away the voters; we will not need people to hijack electoral materials. The 2019 election will be different ball game. Your vote will count and you will use the PVC.”
He told the people that the National Assembly had passed the Electoral Act making the card reader the only authentic instrument for accreditation of voters.
The AKISIEC boss explained that the card reader identifies the fingerprint of the owner.
He appealed to the people to be orderly, saying that the law establishing AKISIEC empowered it to collaborate with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on issue of voters registration to achieve credible elections.
