NIGERIA DRIFTING INTO PRECARIOUS STATE – OBI ACHEBE

THE Obi of Onitsha, Obi Nnaemeka Achebe, has cautioned on the continuous drafting of the ship of the state into a precarious state.
The monarch who made this remark during his 17th Ofala festival held at the Ime Obi Onitsha, said Nigeria was daily experiencing one crises to another, stressing that these are more rampant in the present administration than in another time since after the civil war.
His words “Nigeria is experiencing deep chasms in the political religious and social aspect of life. At least 70 percent of Nigerians are living below poverty line and small portion of legislators live stupendously lives at home and abroad.
Today, our country is experiencing deep chasms in various aspects of our national life including political, social and religious indeed. Many analysts both at home and abroad have characterized our country as drifting closer to the precipice today than any time since the civil war almost fifty years ago.
The festival which was sponsored by globacom attracted personalities, traditional rulers and Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State, among others.
