Catholics condemns robbery in convent



 CATHOLICS faithful in Enugu have condemned the robbery on Reverend Sisters living at the Daughters of Divine Love (DDL), Abakpa-Nike, Enugu.
The incident, which happened on Tuesday had 10-armed robbers, who disguised as members of Catholic Men Organization (CMO) and gained entry into the DDL premises in pretence that they want to attend early morning prayers.
The robbers entered the chapel where the sisters were praying and joined in the prayer for 10 minutes before revealing their intents. Two of the robbers were said to have brandished their guns before the sisters who they warned not to shout.
Apparently afraid of beign shot, the sisters led them to the hostel where they collected their laptops, mobile phones and some money.
The robbers were also said to have asked the sisters to lead them to the Sister-in-Charge of Finance, where they made away with over 500,000 naira cash before they escaped with a bus belonging to the sisters.
The security men at the gate were said to be unaware of what happened and as soon as they saw the bus, they opened the gate for the armed robbers who left the premises unperturbed.
Reacting to the robbery, a Catholic, Mr. Onyeka Onyido said that it was the greatest debasement for anyone to rob the sisters who work for God and humanity.
