11 burnt in Abuja restaurant explosion



OVER 11 persons were yesterday burnt in a gas explosion that occurred at Rosy Restaurant Area 11, Abuja.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the victims who were immediately taken to Asokoro General Hospital suffered various degrees of burns.
A pregnant woman and staff of the restaurant, who simply identified herself as Ajayi, said that they were all going about their normal businesses when the gas suddenly exploded, before the whole place went up in flames, adding that she the explosion affected her face, legs and hands.
Another eyewitness, Rachael Awu, said she was going about her duties when the blast occurred.
Acting Managing Director of Health and Human Services Secretary (HHSS) of, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Dr Aminu Mile, said that circumstances surrounding the explosion would be unraveled, adding that HHSS was already doing its beat to help victims.
But Acting Chief Medical Director of Asokoro Hospital, Dr Nnabuchi Chidi, said that some of the more fatally injured victims would be referred to National Hospital, Abuja.
