Independence: Ajimobi urges Nigerians to explore diversity for development



NIGERIANS have been urged to explore the cultural, ethnical and tribal diversities of the country to become a leading force in the African continent.
Governor of Oyo state, Senator AbiolaAjimobi gave the charge at the Fifty-Eighth Independence Day celebration held in Ibadan.
The ceremony held at the Lekan Salami Stadium featured March Past, Novelty match, Thug of war contest and cultural display.
The Independent Celebration in the state began with a novelty match between Team Oyo State Children Squad and Ex-shooting Stars players, which the Team Oyo state won on penalties.
In his independence address, Governor Ajimobi noted that ethnical sentiment had led to civil wars, religious crises and the incessant farmer-herdsmen crises.
2018 Independence Day  Governor Ajimobi who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Chief Moses Adeyemo said it was high time Nigerians outgrew discrimination and harmonize the diversities God had blessed the country with.
He said the country was rich in human, geographical and natural resources, capable of making her the commercial nerve centre for Africa if well explored.
Thereafter, there was March past by various schools and Para-military organizations, which was inspected by the Deputy Governor, Chief Moses Adeyemo, who represented the Governor.
The Independence celebration in the state was climaxed with award of prizes to winners and runners-up of the March past.
