Liverpool vs Southampton Match Previews & Betting Tips
LIVERPOOL have looked more like their former selves in recent games, arguably seeing the international break come at a convenient time. Southampton meanwhile are in a slump and I’m not expecting them to come out of that negative run here.
On their day, there is arguably no better counter-attacking team in the Premier League than Liverpool, a tactic which was put to good effect during their 4-1 victory over West Ham United. Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah were rampant in Liverpool’s opener, as the former teed up the latter after running the length of the pitch together, before Joel Matip made it 2-0 three minutes later.
Southampton desperately need a lift and few things would boost the club’s supporters more than an away win at Liverpool after seeing their team lose 1-0 at home to Burnley before the international break.
Once more, goals were hard to come by for Saints, who were left frustrated by a number of excellent saves from stand-in Burnley keeper Nick Pope, who has impressed since his introduction to the side. In the end it was Burnley manager Sean Dyche that was rewarded for his positivity after bringing on forwards
Ashley Barnes and Sam Vokes and it was the latter who headed in the winner ten minutes from time against his boyhood club.
With this we are tipping Liverpool to come out victorious here.
