Nigeria records over 103m Internet users in July
THE number of internet users in Nigeria has increased to over 103.6 million in July, to mark a marginal rise by 866,656 from the previous figure of 102,805,122 recorded in June.
The hint was dropped by Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) yesterday in its Monthly Internet Subscribers Data (MISD) for July posted on its website.
According to the data, Airtel, MTN and Globacom gained more internet subscribers during the month under review while 9mobile was the biggest loser, with a further breakdown showing that Globacom gained the most with 574,821 new internet users, increasing its subscription in July to 27,146,075, up from 26,571,254 in June.
The report also indicates that 9mobile lost 218,086 internet users in July, shedding its subscription profile to 10,367,260 compared to 10,585,346 it recorded in June, with MTN posting about 134,171 new users to increase its subscription to 39,071,670 in July up from 38,937,473 recorded in June.
Airtel brings up the rear among telecom service providers that gained more internet users in July with 375,754 new subscriptions to total 27,086,773 as against 26,711,049 in June.
