Abductors of Catholic priest demand N15 million ransom



ABDUCTORS of the principal of St. Peters Claver College, Aghalokpe in Oviri Okpe, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, Rev. Fr. Christ Ogaga, last Saturday, have demanded for a ransom of N15 million, for his release.
The principal who is also the Parish Priest, St. Emmanuel Catholic Church Aragba, Oviri Okpe was said to have been abducted around Arawa-oviri Orere Okpe, Road on Saturday as he was going to celebrate mass at the Mother of Redeemer, Catholic Church on Sunday.
National Light gathered that the Abductors made contact with the church on Monday and demanded N15 million as ransom.
Delta State Police Commissioner, Mustapha Muhammad in a press statement, stated that the priest was abducted on Saturday along Arara-Oviri-Orere-Okpe Road while traveling to another parish in Warri.
He stated that the police command had began a search to ensure the safe return of the priest. It is not yet clear if the Church is making any effort to raise the money but our source revealed that parishioners are deeply worried at the sudden disappearance of the priest.
“We are worried at this unfortunate incident. He left on Saturday at about 10pm and never arrived at his destination till now. We cannot precisely say where he was abducted, but we are doing our best to ensure he is safe and released.”
