Guards rob hospital of N5 million

OPERATIVES of Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) have arrested two private security guards for allegedly stealing N5 million from the coffers of the Maiduguri Specialist Hospital.
The suspects, who have been on SARS’ wanted list since May, were nabbed yesterday in Maiduguri following a tip off by officers of the command.
According to a source, they gained access to the money through roof ceiling in cashier’s office where they broke the safe and carted away the amount.
Medical Director of the hospital, Laraba Bello, confirmed the incident, adding that the suspects were security men working with a private guards company in the hospital.
Public Relations Officer of Borno Police Command, Edet Okon, said that investigation had since commenced to unearth additional information about the crime.
