Pledges to field presidential candidate
ALL Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has reaffirmed that it will not adopt another party’s flag bearer as her presidential candidate during the 2019 presidential elections. The party has said that one of its own will vie on the party’s ticket.
This was a resolution of APGA Board of Trustees meeting held to deliberate the party’s position at the 2019 general election. The meeting, which was chaired by APGA National Leader and BoT Chairman, Gov. Willie Obiano, resolved to zone the party’s presidential ticket to the North while vice presidential candidate would come from the South-East.
Briefing newsmen after the meeting, Secretary of the APGA BoT, Alhaji Sani Shinkafi, revealed that the party will gird its loins for a better a victorious outing, adding that anyone can dismiss APGA candidates at their own risk.
According to him, the other major political parties have failed the nation over the years they have been at the helm of affairs, unlike APGA which was founded on sound political principles and values as a viable solution of last resort to the socio-political problems the nation is presently facing.
He noted that the party would ensure the emergence of credible candidates to fly its flag during the election to enable it provide a good alternative to other political parties.
It will be recalled that APGA last fielded candidate for presidential election in 2003 and 2007, when the founder of the Party, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu was its flag bearer.
