St Thomas Aquinas CWO holds 2018 Women Forum



CATHOLIC Women Organisation (CWO) of St Thomas Aquinas Church, G.R.A, Awka has celebrated their 2018 annual women forum at the church premises. The event which was celebrated with church service, marks the beginning of the August women meeting and attracted dignitaries such as the commissioner for Indigenous Artworks, Diaspora Affairs, Culture and Tourism, Mrs Sally Mbanefo, Prof. Anthony Eze, Igwe Austin Ndigwe among others.
Commissioner for Indigenous Artworks, Diaspora Affairs, Culture and Tourism, Sally Mbanefo who spoke on Holy family, urged the women to succinctly live the life that is worthy of emulation, advising them to know their roles as mothers of the house and endeavour to instill peace, love and unity where there is none and equally love one another.
In her address, the President of CWO, Lizzy Nweke who described the forum as opportunity for Catholic women to gather together and raise money for the upkeep of their church as well as support the building of their new parish, noted that the women used the forum to visit the less privileged, parishioners as well as sick ones among them.
She maintained that the women celebrate charity week once a year where they lend money to petty business men and women without interest, distribute food items, provisions and clothings to the needy in their midst.
According to Mrs Nweke, seminars are being held annually to equip the women on the best ways to take care of their families which has transformed and uplifted many of them as well as produce good number of converts.
High points of the event included lighting of candles and unveiling of the mother Mary statues.
