I felt no pressure – Ese Brume, three-time gold medalist



ESE Brume set a very interesting record by becoming the first and only athlete (male or female) to win three gold medals in three consecutive African championships, she has bagged gold in Marrakech, Morocco in 2014 and in Durban South Africa, in 2016, and in Asaba 2018.
Reacting to her incredible record and form in an interview she said she was super excited about it, when asked if she was under pressure to defend her title she said “no I was not under any pressure at all, I have a good coach who trained me well, I targeted top 3, and I won the gold and I will represent Africa in the next continental championship.”
When she was asked if her athlete life affected her educational activities, the 22-year-old Nigerian gold medalist said “with the help of my coach I have been able to balance my educational life with my athlete life, all I just had to do was to put in more effort.”
However she dedicated her gold medal to her coach, family, team Nigeria and the fans who showed her support in Asaba.
