NIGERIAN sprinter and Asaba 2018 silver medalist, Abejoye Oyeniyi was grateful to fans in the stadium for showing him support in the just ended CAA in Asaba, adding that he was impressed with his performance after he won silver in the 110m hurdles final.
Although he claims there is still room for improvement he was full of joy after playing second fiddle to gold medallist, Antonio Alkana of South Africa who won the event in 13.51s,
Speaking to National Light, Oyeniyi said: “I am happy with the position (second), I’m really, really happy. I want to use this opportunity to thank the fans, they really motivated and showed me love. Although the pressure was there but I think I handled it well.”
On his future plans, he said: “I want to start preparing for the world championship next year.”
Abejoye Oyeniyi returned with a time of 13.51s to take silver ahead of bronze medallist Wellington Zaza of Liberia (13.88s).
