ANAMBRA State Government has said it will partner Austrian firm, Energie Verso gung Margarethen, Vienna on sustainable management of wastes in the state.
Gov. Willie Obiano announced this while briefing newsmen after a meeting with a delegation of investors from the Austria at Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.
The visit of the Austrian delegation was fallout of recent tour of the country by the governor.
The governor emphasized that the partnership would assist the state government to utilize wastes to generate sustainable energy that could help to boost the economic growth of the state.
Obiano explained: “the partnership will enhance a clean environment in the state. The firm will manage our wastes, convert them into fuel, electricity and many more”.
He added that the environmental technology firm would fund the project, while the state government would provide waste and the site for the establishment of the plant.
Gov. Obiano said that the firm was ready to replicate what they have in Vienna, Germany and India, in Anambra State.
Earlier, the Managing Director of the firm, Werner Wernolf expressed the willingness of the company to work with the state in carrying out the project.
Wernolf noted that the partnership was an opportunity to create jobs, promote industrial and agricultural production in Nigeria.
He assured that once the approval for the project was made by the government, the facility would be set up over the next nine months.
