Africa bids to host 2025 championship – Gusau

CAA 2018 not sponsored by FG
ATHLETICS Federation of Nigeria president, Ibrahim Shehu Gusau in a press conference held at the press conference room of the Stephen Keshi stadium announced that Africa is bidding to host the world championship in 2025.
He specifically said that 6 African nations are bidding and Nigeria was one of them. No Africa nation has ever hosted the world championship before.
In a statement he made he said “Nigeria is one of the 6 African nations bidding to host the world championship in the year 2025, and with what we did here in Asaba, I can confidently say we are ready to host the world, Abuja stadium is under renovation. But not for that purpose.”
However he thanked the governor of Delta state, Ifeanyi Okowa for his support financially, Mr Gusau mentioned that the federal government did not in any way sponsor CAA 2018, he stated that “ the ministry of sports promised to sponsor us but up until now we have not seen anything or heard from them.”
He also added all funding for the tournament was sponsored by the AFN body and Delta State government.
