ELATION was clearly etched on the faces of parents , guardians , teachers and about 100 students and pupils of Beacon Light Schools, Lagos, who graduated recently .
Kicking off the graduation ceremony with a church service , the officiating priest , Rev Fr Jude Anyaegbu, urged the graduating students to always be beacons of light and good ambassadors of the school wherever they go , to draw others to the light of God and faith.
He said ,”you have to negotiate well in transitory stages of your life ,especially, this stage you are in . It is very crucial to your prospect and potential in life. So you have to be very careful on the choices, you make in life so as to avoid identity crisis.”
“You are not graduating from education rather you are graduating from one level of education to another. Life is a learning process. You learn from your experiences and that of others. ”
In her speech, the Principal of the secondary section of the school, Mrs. Dike, appreciated the parents, and congratulated the students especially for their wonderful performance at the just concluded WAEC examination, noting that no child of Beacon light School is a nuisance in the society.
The principal admonished the students to always remember where they are coming from and be good ambassadors of the school.
She also advised them not to make choices because others are making, but to make their choices based on their own interest, adding that no course or career is more important than the other.
Speaking also , the Head Teacher of the primary section , Mrs Olake observed that success comes to those who does not give up , therefore , she urged the pupils to work hard , never to give in to peer pressure or bullies but always stand up for what is right and just.
The highlights of the occasion were; songs presentations , drama , dances and other displays. Students and pupils were then felicitated with their graduation certificates and prizes.
