ANAMBRA State Governor has ordered the immediate installation of speed breakers and other road signs along the Army Barracks end of the ever busy Enugu-Onitsha Expressway to forestall motor accidents.
The state Commissioner for Works, Marcel Ifejiofor disclosed this to newsmen when he visited the Commander, 302 Artillery Regiment, Onitsha. Col. Akpan, at the Military Cantonment, Army Barracks, Onitsha.
Ifejiofor said that the visit was at the instance of the governor who he said was deeply worried about the rate of motor accidents, particularly along the Army Barracks end of the road and directed him to liase with the command on how best to curtail the road accidents on the road.
Mr.Ifejifor said that apart from speed breakers, other road infrastructure such as zebra crossings and other signages that will warn motorists on approach to the Army Barracks end of the expressway would be installed.
Responding, the Commander, 302 Artillery Regiment, Onitsha. Col. Akpan commended the delegation for the visit. He said that the visit was very important as it would help to stop the frequent motor accidents along the barracks end of the ever busy road.
Col. Akpan said that he was happy that the governor responded immediately by sending the delegation adding that the command will provide the necessary security to the service provider who will handle the project to make sure he finished the job in record time.
