One killed, others injured in boundary clash

TRAGEDY struck in Ekoli-Edda in Afikpo South Local Government Area and Ibor, Cross River State over a boundary dispute as one person was killed and three others injured.

It was gathered that some youths from Ekoli-Edda went to palm plantation jointly owned by Ebonyi and Cross River commu­nities to cut palm fronds when the Cross River warlords allegedly waylaid them with gun and shot one dead while three others es­caped with bullet injuries.

Sources from Ekoli-Edda said that the injured persons have been taken to a hidden place where the bullets will be extracted from their bodies.

When contacted, the Ebonyi State Police Command Public Relations Officer, ASP Loveth Odah, confirmed the incident, saying that the police was investigating the matter.

She said that the police in Afikpo South was working hard to ensure there were no further crisis in the place.
Odah appealed to the people not to take laws into their hands by going on a reprisal attack but to remain peaceful and law abiding while the police investigate and restore peace.
