Muslim community endorse Umahi for second term

EBONYI State Deputy Governor, Eric Kelechi Igwe , has commended Muslim Community in the state for adopted Governor David Umahi for second term in office.

The deputy governor said this in Abakaliki during a Salah homage by the Muslim community in the state where they endorsed Umahi as their sole candidate for the 2019 general election.
The deputy governor who received the delegation on Umahi’s behalf, noted that the governor’s sterling qualities in his first term in office, has endeared him to the people.

He noted that the Muslim community has presently endorsed him as they told him that Umahi’s successor will have no work to do because he has done everything that needs to be done.
“Your fasting period is for sanctification and closeness to Allah and the message he gave you afterwards to adopt the governor shows that the exercise was well observed,” he said.

Igwe urged the muslims to have full confidence on their adoption of the governor as any other candidate would only chastise, disrupt their businesses and their peaceful stay in the state.
“The manner you have conducted yourself gives us the confidence that the election period which is usually characterised with violence, would be peaceful and tension-free in Ebonyi.

“The only way to concretise this adoption is to conduct a house-to house campaign on your members to procure their permanent voters cards, to vote for the governor.

He said that the period is coming when any person of voting age would
not transact business in Ebonyi if he or she does not possess a voters

Leader of the Muslim Community in Ebonyi, Alhaji Abass Egwu thanked
Allah for granting Muslims in the state, the enablement to successfully conclude the Ramadan fasting.

“We reached a resolution adopting the governor as our sole candidate
in the 2019 general elections because we are satisfied with his
programmes and policies.

“Umahi is one of the five governors in the country participating in
the Open Governance Partnership (OGP) a platform that condemns
corruption in its entirety.

He promised that the Muslim community would continue to identify with the governor as it is ready to sacrifice to ensure he succeeds in
