A new helmsman has been approved for the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to serve in an acting capacity pending senate confirmation of a substantive nominee as stipulated in the ICPC Act 2000.
His name is Alhaji Musa Abubakar, who until his appointment was Secretary of the Commission.
Abuabakar’s elevation was made known by out-going Chairman of ICPC, Alhaji Bako Abdullahi, at a brief ceremony attended by heads of departments and other senior management staff.
Abdullahi commended the management and staff of the commission for the support he had received from them, saying it was tremendous. He therefore urged them to extend the same level of support to the new helmsman.
Responding after receiving the handing-over documents, Abubakar extolled his predecessor for repositioning ICPC and solicited cooperation from the staffs, which he said was indispensable to the onerous work that faces the strategic organisation.
