Obosi Erosion Site: Obiano Applauds Progress Of Work

GOVERNOR Willie Obiano has expressed satisfaction with the reclamation work at Minaj Road Erosion site in Odume layout, Obosi,  Idemili North Local Government Area.

The governor who stated this while inspecting the project, disclosed that the job was costing the government over 2.7 billion naira.

The gully which was about 20metres deep developed last year, taking-in several buildings in the process, even as some were at the verge of caving in but for quick intervention of government to reclaim the ravaged areas.

Inspecting the site, Governor Obiano said he was happy that the entire area has been filled up; emphasising that his administration was spending 2.7billion naira on the work, stressing that it would be inaugurated by next month.

He noted that government also awarded contract for five roads within the vicinity to ensure proper flow of flood and avoid the development of gullies in the future.

The Commissioner for Road Infrastructure, Furniture and Maintenance, Chief Lawrence Chinwuba applauded government for deploying resources to ensure the success of the project.

The director of the firm handling the project, Farah disclosed that work on the erosion control and roads would be completed by next month.

Traditional Ruler of Obosi, Igwe Chidubem Iweka and Chief Ifeanyi Udokwu commended government on the steps taken in tackling the ecological problem.
