OKO Poly ASUP insists on strike

THE Academic Staff Union of Federal Polytechnic (ASUP), Oko Chapter, has continued their strike in spite of appeals to call it off.

The association had been agitating over unpaid allowances owed them by the management as well as non-implementation of agreements between the union and management but the institution’s governing council had made strong appeal to the union for call off of the strike.

The Polytechnic Management and the council respectively led by the Rector Prof. Godwin Onu and Mr Lasberry Amadi had held meetings with the union on campus urging them to shelve the strike, especially now that the community would be expecting many dignitaries during burial of the former Vice-President of Nigeria, late Dr Alex Ekwueme.

Meanwhile, the Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP) and Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) had in their separate meetings with the management and the institution’s council decided not to join the
