Lopsided appointments, bane on Buhari’s credibility loss – S’East group

By Robinson Esighasim

A CROSS section of southeastern supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari in All Progressives Congress (APC), has attributed the current loss of credibility of the president to the lopsided appointments he has made  since the onset of his administration.

The group  made this known to newsmen durimg an interactive session held in Ihiala, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State on the “necessity to elect a detribalied Nigerian citizen as President of the country , Come 2019,” who can perfectly carry everybody along and ensuring  justice, equity and fairness for all.

They also noted  that President Buhari has so far favoured the northerners alone, particularly in the area of appointment and maintained that northerners outnumbered  others in all the key federal government offices and posts by 85%, thereby eroding of fairness in conduct  and therefore  disappointment.

Speaking to National Light during the session, APC secretary, Anambra State chapter and Special Adviser to Gov Obiano on Political matters,  Paulinus Adinuba, expressed regret over the intensity of their efforts in making sure that Buhari succeeded in the last presidential election and later got disappointed in him, especially by his nepotistic attitude to appointment, adding that he overlooked most of his southeastern campaigners and decided to favour almost only the northerners.

He further condemned unfair manner in which Mr President has been handling the Fulani herdsmen menace, thereby describing him as a tribalist. He emphasised that he may be forced to  defect from APC to another party, perhaps, APGA which has already given him an appointment. “Buhari, honestly, is a disappointment. Look at Fulani herdsmen, attacking and massacering innocent people in Benue and other places in the country, and he has not done much to curb the menace, but was quick to dub he d IPoB a terrorist group and therefore commanded the military on about two occasions to eliminate the group by shooting at sight all the members of the group, by the military ‘operation python dance (part I and II),’ just to spite the Igbo . From all these facts, it can be deduced that he is a sectionalist, nepotist and tribalist,” Hon Adinuba said.

On her part,  a political juggernaut and stalwart supporter of President Buhari, Ebby Aisedion, said, Buhari will find it difficult to win the forthcoming presidential election if chosen by any party as its candidate because he failed majority of his supporters from other ethnic nationalities and chose to reward the northerners, which is also why he has been handling the issue of herdsmen massacre with contempt , stressing that it is a culpable action.

He  added  that if Buhari would come to the South-East for campaign in 2019, he may be stoned by the people for his overbearing tribal discrimination.

“Buhari will certainly find it very difficult to win the next election if he succeeds in clinching a presidential ticket of any party. Again, if he would come to the South- East to flag off his campaign again in 2019, the people may stone him because of his intense discrimination against them,” Mr Aisedion maintained.
