ANAMBRA State Government has embarked on demolishion of illegal structures allegedly used by criminals and prostitutes on the toll gate axis of the Onitsha-Enugu Expressway.

Following outcry from members of the public, Gov. Willie Obiano directed the physical planning board, made up of the army, police and other security services to rid the state of all illegal structures, in line with the state government’s promises to make the state crime-free.
Some of the illegal structures, it was alleged, provided hide out for criminals, and as well promote anti-social activities across the state.
It was also gathered that the place harbours prostitutes and other miscreants, who engage in nefarious activities.
According to the security adviser to the governor, Chief Chikaodili Anare, occupants of the area usually pollute the area with human wastes.
The General Manager, Anambra State Physical Planning Board, Mrs Ngozi Atisele explained that the affected structures were demolished for security reasons.
She called on people residing in such areas in the state to relocate as government would no longer tolerate such structures.
